Concealer serves a twofold purpose for making your eye shadow scream, “YASSSS!”
First, using the right concealer serves as a great primer which helps your eye shadow stay in place all day long. Butttttttttttt beyond that, I love using concealer to make my eye shadow show up more vibrant.
To get the trick done, I apply a light colored concealer to the lid of my eye. Next, I follow up with the eye shadow of my choice.
This method is perfect for light colors that do not show up as pigmented as you’d like them to when applied normally. Just add concealer first, and voila, magic!
Here’s a video for my visual folks.
A very practical trick for more pigmentation is using your finger to apply eye shadow. I know, I know! Most of us our lovers of a good eye shadow brush and rightfully so. But, trust me! Finger application is great for heavy pigmentation that takes FOREVA to otherwise achieve.
Wet Application Brush
When I want a metallic color to stand out like no other, I wet my application brush before applying my eye shadow. This method puts my eyes on a new level by giving me a more pigmented look that really stands out. Try achieving the look by damping your brush, swiping it across your favorite shadow then bracing yourself for the difference it makes in application.
The results will be a foil look similar to this.

Listen! I live for a glitter liner that gives my eye shadow that extra umph! It can be used as a top liner either by itself or above your traditional top liner. If you’re feeling ambitious, glitter liner also looks great when used to line the crease of the eye. Either way, this liner never fails to take my eye shadow up a notch.
Here’s a little proof.
Take it one step further by using your glitter liner to create a glitter lid! Although you can use loose glitter to achieve the same look, the glitter liner is more fool-proof and less likely to make a mess. To get this viva la glam look, I apply eye shadow as usual then follow up by using the glitter liner to color over the eye shadow on the lid of my eye. I continue painting the liner on until I achieve the desired look.
Here’s a tutorial using loose glitter for the brave-hearts out there.
