I sat there attracted to her. Tingling with the type of excitement that wasn’t sexual, yet still made me want to get closer. It was her energy- a sparkling flame exuding characteristics I wanted to enhance in myself. An aura that I suppose made others dislike her. Yet, for me, the same light that was a bright annoyance to some was a gravitating fixture that motivated me to do more and be more. I looked at her and there was no competition, just motivation.
And the motivation she made me feel, prompted me to study her, befriend her, cheer her on even.
Truthfully and transparently, this is the story of all of my fierce lady friendships.
I guess I’ve never known jealousy. I’ve always been the type to turn deep admiration into motivation rather than hate or envy. And I’ve never been afraid to cling to those who accomplished achievements I want for myself.
In fact, I attribute my successes in life to embracing admiration of others and using it to fuel my growth.
I can’t quite imagine a bitter person being fully blessed. Or a person so negatively focused on the actions of others having enough energy left to be all that they were destined to be. So I’ve never known jealousy. Only an immense attraction to greatness, generally followed by determination to level up by learning all there is to know from women worth learning from.
The way I see it, I am a flower. A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms. And oh, how I’ve bloomed from all the amazing seeds I’ve gathered from others.
Gather Seeds that Grow You
Today, I encourage you to set your focus on gathering seeds that grow you. Study those who’ve accomplished the things you want. Grow close to them. Learn from them. Stand in their light. Deny yourself the intrinsic desire to compete, instead being motivated to bloom bigger, brighter, and higher.
