Almost a year ago, me and my girls decided that we should recreate the epicness of my bachelorette weekend with a commemorative reunion trip.
We landed on taking a wine trip near the scenic coast of sunny California.
Stoked about the opportunity for some much-needed girls’ time, we began the planning process. Weeks passed and our lively crew of 10 dwindled down to 3 cuz, well, life. But nonetheless, me and two of my closest friends headed out to the rolling hills of Paso Robles for an amazing trip that was perfect in every way.
We caught flights to Los Angeles where we made a quick pit stop to check on Issa before jumping in a small crossover for our 3-hour drive to Paso.
Beautiful mountain views, bays, and plush greenery kept us entertained while we sang off-key to our party playlists. And before we knew it, we were submerged in California’s best kept secret.
We unpacked our bags at La Bellasera Resort and headed out the door for wine tasting at Daou. The views from the vineyard were unparalleled and the ambiance was just what we needed to set the tone for the trip.
On the advice of our concierge, we used the Uber wine app to secure a driver for day two of our exploits. It was well worth the small investment.
For lunch we had the best shrimp in grits from Niner while we marveled at the heart shaped trees in the vineyard.
Next, we made our way to the secluded Justin Winery.
We had absolutely no phone service but enjoyed the wine a ton.
Our final stop was at Four Lanterns where we made friends with the owner and even got a great dinner recommendation for the night.
We felt bad an bougie at Somm’s kitchen as the chef personally prepared small plates and wine pairing for us.
Night life options were limited in the sleepy town but when we heard of a country bar with karaoke we decided it was only right for us to swing by.
Jammed packed with patrons, we maneuvered our way in and immediately put our name on the list to sing. We shut it down with our rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats.”
The crowd went nuts! They waved the lights from their phones and festively sung along. Afterwards, we took pictures with our new-found fans while exchanging high fives between compliments and calls for an ovation.
The next day, we headed 30 minutes up the coast to Avila Beach.
The majesty of the mountains and roaring waves were breathtaking.
Perfect is a absolute understatement.
After sunset, we headed back to Paso for the evening, excited about spending our next few days in Los Angeles.
Our first stop in LA was Bottega Louie for brunch. The drinks were delicious and the French toast was heavenly. EVERYTHING on the menu is delicious, and their pastries are to die for.
The posh atmosphere was perfect for a Sunday in Downtown LA.
When we finally stopped moving we realized how tired we were from our eventful getaway. Needless to say, we were content to spend the rest of the day enjoying pool time at the Downtown Los Angeles Intercontinential Hotel.
That night, we watched chick flicks and recapped on the amazing time we had in Cali.
As we went our separate ways to visit local family or catch flights, we were already discussing a do over.
From this trip I realized that I’m okay with low key vacations with my favorite people. Although we didn’t quite “party like it was 1999” we had the time of our lives. We laughed uncontrollably, drank good wine, and gave each other a little encouragement to keep tackling life. Nothing beats that.
