Although both originally from Dallas, Ashley and Asya first crossed paths in law school. After graduation, the two formed a closer bond as they studied for the Texas Bar Exam.
In between study sessions, Ashley and Asya browsed the web for fashion steals until one day Ashley jokingly mentioned that they should start a shoe boutique. That joke quickly evolved into the start of a business plan for ShuEsq.
Both ladies passed the bar, beginning the official start of their careers as attorneys. In the meantime, their brain child, ShuEsq. continued to evolve into a space for up and coming independent designers who were not traditionally carried in chain retailers.

Since that time, the boutique has morphed from an online presence to storefront – the result of winning a pitch for the Grow Desoto Market Place Incubator located in Desoto, TX. The boutique was also recently featured on xonecole.com as a black-owned business to shop.

The dynamic duo agrees that experiencing such success solidifies that they are on the right track. Ashley and Asya explain that these instances are a testament to what happens when entrepreneurs prepare and position themselves for opportunities.

Asya’s advice to multi-passionate women looking to launch a new idea? “Pace yourself. It’s not going to be something that happens overnight. Celebrate your ups and learn from the down moments,” she says.

Adding on to this thought, Ashley says, “Not only will everyone not support you, but it’s okay if they don’t. You can’t let what you thought was going to happen stop you from continuously going after what you want.”
Ashley and Asya contend that there is no limit to how far they plan to grow their brand. They look forward to creating a woman’s oasis featuring Indie designers and fashion forward events which encourage ladies to #DreamMoreThanOneDream.
